Behavioral Case

Had a really thorough interview process with a bunch of different people. They threw some real-life scenarios at me that needed some solid critical thinking. They wanted to know how I deal with rejection, my strengths and weaknesses, and if I can think on my feet.

It was a really strange interview. The interviewer seemed totally checked out and disengaged. Multiple times, they spaced out for like 5-7 seconds after I asked a question, then asked me to repeat myself. This even happened after I answered their questions. They appeared completely swamped with work, to the point that they couldn't even focus during our screening. I noticed they were typing, but not taking notes on what I was saying, even when I was asking them questions! To make matters worse, they offered a salary range of $80-90k, excluding any performance compensation or bonuses, while expecting me to build out their entire recruitment infrastructure. That's ridiculously low for the Bay Area, especially given the responsibilities. Then, in a really odd way, the recruiter mentioned that the next interviewers are seeking someone with 'a lot of energy' and who wants to take on 'a lot of responsibility.' These felt like major red flags. After reading another recruiter's review, I'm relieved I didn't continue. I thought maybe the screener was an anomaly, so I was willing to speak with one more person just to see, but I'm glad I didn't waste more time.

Had a great first call with the recruiter, which got me really excited about the company. Then, I had a screen with someone from the product team. When I asked about what was next, they told me to email them my thoughts on the company afterwards. I thought this was a bit odd, but I asked for their email, and they said they would actually email me. They never did, and a few days later, I got a standard email saying they were moving on with other candidates. Overall, a weird experience.

So like some of the other reviews mentioned, I did not have a good experience and never even got to talk to the recruiter. She reached out and I scheduled a meeting. She had to cancel b/c she was sick (understandable) so we rescheduled. The day before the rescheduled time, she canceled b/c they filled the role! If you've put an offer out to another candidate at least wait until they reject before starting at the beginning of the process again with a *new* candidate. It's a shame b/c the company sounded interesting and I was excited to learn more. Please do better b/c from the other reviews sounds like candidates aren't feeling valued and this is supposed to be a woman-led company.
