First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DistroKid.
Database Engineer
The first step was a recruiter call covering company benefits and salary, which seemed great. Then, there were two technical interviews with the DBA team lead. These were tough because the questions didn't match the job description and expected quick answers for complex tasks. The interviewer wasn't pleasant, asked tricky questions, and was condescending. DistroKid should post accurate job ads and improve their interview skills.

Leadership Position
Had a quick call with a recruiter. Was expecting to chat with multiple senior leaders, but ended up only talking to one. At the end of that chat, the person said I was being recommended to move forward. After that, I heard nothing back from anyone, not even the recruiter. Tried reaching out to several people, but got no response. It's pretty telling about the company culture when candidates are treated like this, especially now.
- Can you describe your leadership style?
Marketing Engineer
Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn. Wonderful human and the best recruiter I've worked with in the 18 months I've been actively searching for work. Proactive recruiting: Pre-interview meeting confirmations. Reviewing candidate profiles thoroughly before the interview process begins. Open Communication: Setting clear expectations and following through! Quick, personable responses, making me feel confident that goals and skills are aligned. Feedback loop: Actively fostering growth AND seeking growth. Real two-way feedback = real improvement = less job hunter and recruiter time wasted in the long run! Job / Company Knowledge: It is evident that the recruiters have their finger on the pulse of the business and can source more effectively because of this

Data Analyst
Phone screen with recruiter, then 2 individual interviews and a group panel. It was a total waste of time because the job I applied for was actually a different role, which they didn't tell me until the very end. It also came with a different task breakdown and the compensation was adjusted way down from what was originally on the job description and mentioned during the phone screen.
- Can you explain how you'd segment data by month, and what steps you'd take to avoid data duplication in your analysis?
