First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Distinctive Schools.
Speech-Language Pathologist
First, there was a screening phone call with very simple questions. Then, another call with more in-depth but still basic questions. Finally, an in-person interview with the team.
- What sparked your interest in becoming a speech-language pathologist?
Special Education Teacher
It was an easy and welcoming interview process. Everyone seemed really nice and asked typical questions for a teacher interview. The first round was a phone screen and then an in person panel interview. I didn't have to teach a model lesson, but I interviewed during Covid so that could have been why.
- How do you deal with a challenging parent situation?
Dean of Students
Had a first phone chat that was about 20-30 min. Got an email back in less than a day. They were fast, which was great and made me feel like they cared. Then, I had a panel interview with about 3-5 people who worked there, like network and school staff. The questions seemed pretty straightforward given my background. After the interview, I got a personal tour.
- What is your experience with social emotional learning?
- Can you describe your experience in building relationships?
Substitute Teacher
I interviewed with the principal and instructional coach. The hiring process was very brief because they needed to fill the role immediately. They were very thorough during the interview, and I felt comfortable throughout the process.
- What motivates your desire to teach?
- How do you distinguish yourself from other educators?
