First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Discover.
Customer Service Representative
The interview started with a 30-45 minute phone call. They wanted to know how I found the job, what interested me about working there, where it ranked on my list of potential jobs, how long I'd been doing this kind of work, and why I liked it. My advice is to be yourself and manifest it! If they really like you and need someone, they'll immediately offer a second Zoom interview.
- What motivated you to apply to Discover?
Customer Service Representative
It went pretty fast. They didn't have much flexibility on salary or package details. The interviewers were nice, I'd say. There were at least 2 rounds. The first was a phone call where they went over your resume and work history. The second interview was more about who you are, what experiences you liked, and how they align with this job.
- Can you tell me about your past work history?
- What's your experience working remotely?
- Have you worked in financial services before?
Customer Service Representative
I applied for remote Credit Card Customer Service and New Applicant Customer Service roles. I got a call from Discover about the Credit Card Customer Service position. They asked if I could attend training from 10-6, explained it's a flex position with a certain hourly rate, and said I'd get a second interview call in 1-2 days. Two days later, I got an email saying they're moving on with other candidates. I'm not sure if they're intentionally filtering out qualified people or if it's some kind of scam, but honestly, I'm glad it didn't work out.
- I was never contacted for an interview. I only received one call from Discover for the Credit Card Customer Service asking if I'm available to attend training 10 am-6 pm, and explained that the position would be flex, the hourly rate, and that I would receive a call for a second interview in 1-2 days. Received an email 2 days later stating Discover is moving onto other candidates. Is Discover weaning out certain qualified candidates or is this a hoax? Not meant to be and I'm glad.
