I went through 5 rounds of interviews for this Senior Analyst role at Discover. It started with a recruiter call, then a phone screen. After that, I had 4 in-person rounds at their Illinois office. The first round was a mix of going over my resume, discussing credit card industry pricing, and asking why I was interested in Discover. The second round focused on a case study and why Discover. The third and fourth rounds were primarily resume-based, with more questions about why I wanted to work at Discover, my professional qualities, and specific examples.

I applied for the analyst job in late July 2013. A few weeks later, I got a call from HR to set up the first phone screen, which was the week after that. The phone screen took about 45 minutes, covering my resume and any questions I had about the company or the job. It went well, and about a week later, I was invited for a 4-part, 2.5-hour in-person interview at their campus in Riverwoods, IL. Each part was 45 minutes. I dressed professionally and found parking easily. The first person I met and interviewed with was a Manager, who was friendly and accommodating. The second interviewer, a Senior Manager, was unexpectedly out of town, so that part didn't happen as planned, but I didn't mind. The third interview was with another Manager, which had to be done over the phone because she was at an event, but we still discussed the position in detail. The final interview was with the Hiring Manager, who was very nice and asked relevant questions. She also went over some job requirements and asked me to rate my skills. Even though I didn't get the job, it was a great interview experience, and this company is one I'd really like to build a career with.

I had an initial recruiter screening call, lasted about 10 minutes. Then, I had a panel interview with my potential bosses for 60-80 minutes. They asked a list of about 17 standard questions and then a couple of extra ones. After that, the recruiter called me again to schedule a second interview with two middle managers from the team I'd be supporting. This was more informal, and they seemed to be checking my team interaction skills and confirming my ability to do the work. The recruiter then contacted me for offer negotiations. The interviews themselves were good, but the recruiter interactions for screening and negotiation were not great.
