So it's a group interview. First, you meet your manager, who then chats with you one-on-one to see what makes you tick and what would motivate you to work there. It's kinda like their sales pitch, pretty persuasive if you're not a natural salesperson. Then, you get into the group interview part where they try to sell you on being a DirectBuy member and tell you your job will be to set up appointments for people to join. You also get member perks just for working there, which is cool. The one thing I didn't really vibe with was how they talked about expected income. It sounded way higher than it probably is. I'd say take whatever number they give you and expect to make about 70% of that if you're doing well.

First, there was a quick phone chat to set up a second interview. For the second interview, other candidates were present. We all listened to a group presentation about the company, the role, our duties, and compensation details. Afterward, we had individual interviews. A couple days later, I got the job offer and started training with two other people. After a few days of training, the manager met with each of us separately. I was informed that only two positions were available and I had secured one. This hiring strategy of bringing in more people than needed and then cutting down continued for subsequent hires.

I went to the company's main office and filled out an application there. After submitting it to HR, I got a call a few days later from someone in HR for a quick phone pre-interview. Later that week, I heard back about setting up an interview with the department manager. We confirmed a date and time, and I met with them. The interview itself was about 30 minutes long, where they went over the job details and what was needed, and I talked about my past jobs and skills.

It was a quick and easy interview. The owner of DirectBuy, Larry, was very informative about the whole membership process and mentioned they were looking to build a new marketing team to boost membership sales. After about 15 minutes, he clarified the role wasn't actually customer service, but involved cold-calling people to set up appointments at their professional yet private showroom to get their membership and business.
