First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dignity Memorial.
Sales Consultant
The interview was pretty standard and they were very professional. The recruiter explained the job structure which is 100% commission-based and they really focused on building relationships and customer loyalty for the long term. They asked me about my past sales experience, my ability to find new leads, and how I get customers to come back.
- Have you ever done cold calling?
Family Service Advisor
I went through a 4-step interview process. It started with a group interview at a job fair. After that, I was invited to a Zoom interview with all the location managers, where we all introduced ourselves. If selected, the next step was an interview with the location manager. Finally, I had to prepare and deliver a presentation on my 90-day game plan to either the Location Sales Manager, General Manager, or Regional Sales Manager.
- What motivates you to pursue a career in the funeral and cemetery industry?
Administrative Assistant
The interview process was pleasant and seemed to go well. I was told they would get back to me by the end of the week, but I felt like it was a blow-off. Then I was ghosted. They reached out after my application but couldn't take the time to let me know my status. Applicants invest time preparing for interviews. While most of us understand it's not personal, after dedicating time away from our lives to research companies and prepare (not to mention the anxiety and hope involved), it's poor form to leave an applicant hanging. The pay was too low, making me question if I even wanted the job initially, and now I regret bothering. What is happening with companies? They want responsive and responsible people, yet they act the opposite. It needs to improve. The interviewer was nice, but they are just one in a long line of interviewers who treat applicants who've done their due diligence like they're disposable.
- Can you tell me a little about yourself?
Family Service Counselor
I had my first interview at the actual place with the Sales Manager and they offered me the job right away. After that, things took a bit to get moving. I had to do a background check, a drug screen, and fill out some other forms. The whole thing took about a month before I could officially start. Then, when I did start, training for that month had already gone by, so I was basically just thrown in and had to figure out a lot of stuff on my own and start booking appointments. After a few weeks, I finally got to go to training, which was super helpful! But even after training, there's still a ton to learn.
