First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Digital Operative.
Marketing Specialist
Had 2 phone interviews within a 2 week period. First was with HR, second with the Marketplace Manager. Liked talking to both. Haven't heard back after sending multiple emails. I get that people are busy, but it would be nice to get a response if I wasn't selected. Not upset about not getting the job, just wish I could get some feedback to help me improve for future interviews.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Developer
After applying on Indeed, I was contacted pretty quickly. I had three phone calls, each about an hour long. First, I spoke with the HR manager who really sold me on the job and company. Then, I talked with the CTO about the dev department's goals. Finally, the VP of engineering grilled me with a lot of technical questions. Since I wasn't living in SD at the time, I didn't have to go into the office. The whole process from application to offer took less than a week, and the HR director kept in touch and answered all my questions. I was really happy with how everything went; it felt like a professional and great place to work.
- What's your experience with Magento 1 and 2?
Magento Developer
I talked to Digital Operative back in Summer 2017. It started with a promising phone chat, then I met in person with the CTO, Adam Levenson, and his web lead. After that, I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks, so I reached out to their HR person, but got no reply. I tried emailing the same person again the next week, just to check in one last time, and still no response. I figured the silence meant they weren't moving forward with me. It was a bummer because I thought I did great in the interview, but what was more disappointing was that they couldn't even take the time to let me know they were passing. I think a business should be transparent, and throughout this whole thing, I felt like there was none.
- Can you tell me about your Magento experience?
- How do you handle tight deadlines?
Senior Software Engineer
Had two phone calls. One was with the Director of Development and the other with the VP of Engineering. The Director of Development and CTO were also on the call but didn't say much. The discussion was mainly about my past experience and what I plan to do in the future.
- Can you describe your development background?
- Can you elaborate on your experience with specific software?
- What are your career aspirations?
