I got referred by someone who works there. I had one interview with an HR person and another person. It was on a Friday afternoon and you could tell. They didn't try to sell the company at all, and one of the interviewers was almost asleep. They didn't seem to have any emotion and weren't super friendly. I guess they already had someone picked because they acted like they had no interest in me.

I called in to get an update on my resume and application. I talked to Benita Shantz and she had remembered that I had interviewed for this job over two years ago. She told me that they were passing on me and that since they had my resume and application on file, that there is no need to apply for any further job opportunities. I understand that this is a very conservative workplace environment that is proud of its traditional Christian values, and its culture reflects that. As a transgender woman, I also understand that I may clash with the culture therein. It's a shame because it closes off so much diversity and an openness for new ideas in the workplace.

A recruiter reached out and made me apply twice, which was a hassle. Then I had a simple phone interview about my background and schooling. After that, I went in for an in-person interview with a panel of four people. They asked zero technical questions, just stuff about volunteering and how I get along with coworkers. The interviewers were kind of rude and unprofessional; I had to introduce myself first. The HR person also insulted me by suggesting I wasn't a good fit for a previous job I'd applied for, which was weird since I have a Computer Science degree.

I was called by phone after sending my resume. I got there a little early and enjoyed the waiting room. The VP of Design came and got me, then showed me to a conference room. We talked about my background, demographics, and education. Then we talked about design ideas and examples. I showed him my portfolio and asked for his thoughts on my work. He took me on a tour of the design house and then the production facility.
