Instructor
Interviews are usually conducted online via Skype or Google Hangout. It starts with a basic 'tell me about yourself' question. They'll review your resume and experience, and then ask why you might be a good fit. In my experience, they discuss salary offers at the end, but this might differ for others.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- Could you walk me through your resume and past roles?
- What makes you believe you'd be suitable for this position?
Teaching Assistant
It was a nice, casual Skype interview. It took them a long time to get back to me. The interviewer was nice. It was a brief interview. They asked me how I knew what the job required and if I had teaching experience. I may have exaggerated my experience with children, but I was fine on the real job. Technical skills and experience with children seem to be important for this job, but aren't really that important.
- What have you made using the technical skills required for this position?
Teaching Assistant
It was a webinar, with easy questions, mostly about describing some challenges you have encountered and what you would do if a student does X or Y. The interviewer didn't ask any technical questions (programming or Arduino related). Still waiting for a contract, been waiting for 3 days. Not sure if I 100% got this job but it's a great opportunity for a first-year student.
- What would you do if a student's parents send him to this camp but the student does not enjoy staying?
Teacher Assistant
I just submitted an application online, then got a request to do a interview over Google Hangouts. I had applied to TA for computer programming related courses, but there were no technical questions. Mostly behavioral. I thought it went through seamlessly, and it was my first legit job experience!
- Why are you interested in becoming a TA?
