Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dietitian Live.
Registered Dietitian
I had two interviews. The first one was with Amber, and she was really nice and new to the company. It lasted about an hour and had many questions about handling quiet patients, my strengths and weaknesses, what I'm seeking in a company, and my five-year goals. The second interview was also quite long, and the interviewer was very pleasant. They asked questions like how I'd handle a situation where Bob admitted to drinking 12 beers in a night and also if he blamed his wife for ordering pizza, contributing to his bad eating habits.
- What would you do if Bob admitted to having 12 beers in one night?
- How would you address the situation where Bob blames his wife ordering pizza for his bad eating habits?
Registered Dietitian
It was easy. Started with an HR person who was really upbeat and welcoming. Then I had an interview with an RD, which was pretty basic but had interview questions. A lot of ‘Tell me about a time when…’ questions were asked. There was just one slightly MNT question, a ‘Bob’ question.
- Given Bob's situation, what do you identify as his primary issue?
Registered Dietitian
So far I had a 1 hour interview that was like a get-to-know-you type of thing, and then one interview with a dietitian. The first one was super basic. I'm still in the middle of the second interview right now.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your strategies for handling clients who are resistant to making changes?
Registered Dietitian
It was friendly, but turned out to be a front. They promised a full calendar, but didn't give details on how to be successful in the role. No MNT questions were asked, only questions about client communication on topics that were not nutrition based.
- How would you respond if a client, Bob, mentioned consuming 12 beers nightly?
