Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods.
Sales Representative
They asked a lot of good questions and the interviewer was a nice person. They got back to you quickly and it was a good experience, a great time. They asked some very good intelligent questions.
- Why did you decide to apply for this role?
Salesman
Great and fast communication! Loved how fast they got back to me! Very informative on my questions as well. It was an in person interview. Once I got the job, all details described in the interview were true.
- Have you worked on a sales floor previously?
Sales Leader
It took a while to hear back from them. When I finally got an interview, I felt like the interviewer was looking down on me because I had more education than them, and they didn't even have any industry experience. A lot of the interview was just going over my resume, which they hadn't read beforehand. This led to a lot of repetitive questions and questions that were already answered on my resume, like asking if I finished high school when I've already graduated college. I also found out that what they call full-time isn't really full-time, and there wasn't even a guarantee of hours. The role also seemed to involve a lot of responsibilities that should have been the manager's but without the appropriate pay. This explains why the stores are often messy and the staff are unfamiliar with the products – they're too busy doing the manager's job.
- Can you tell me about a time you were part of a team?
- Do you have previous retail experience?
- Did you complete high school?
