First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DICK'S Sporting Goods.
Product Manager Intern
The interview process started with a super relaxed phone screen. After that, there was a 1-hour behavioral interview with some senior product managers where they really dug into my resume. They also asked about my interest in product management and this specific company. Overall, it felt like a pretty chill interview process for a PM role.
- Why Product Management?
- Why this company?
- Can you tell me about your experiences?
Product Manager
So the first step was a quick screener with a recruiter, maybe 20 mins, they asked a bunch of questions and then told me if they wanted to move me on to talk to the hiring manager. After that, I had an interview with the hiring manager. They sent me some prep material before, asking me to "describe a product you've owned and how it worked." Then there were two more parts: meeting with other team members and then with leadership.
- What technologies did your product use?
Product Manager
The interview process wasn't very formal. The hiring manager, who I would report to, spoke with me on the phone and we got straight to the important stuff. They asked the challenging questions first and it seemed like they were looking for reasons why it wouldn't work out from the very beginning.
- Regarding your knowledge of super technical subjects, such as software stacks, what can you tell me?
