Assistant Manager
Talked with the GM for the first round, then the DM for the second. It was a quick process. They asked about my previous job duties, sales figures from my last company, and what I make now and what I want to make.
- Tell me about the duties of your prior position.
- What was your sales volume at your past employer?
- What is your current salary?
Crew Member
I showed up early on a Sunday morning. I filled out an application. A shift manager was doing paperwork nearby and then conducted a mock interview with me. I made good eye contact, talked about my experience, and was upfront about why I needed the job. I also mentioned I was interested because it was a new store. He asked me to come back later that week and I got the job.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- Why do you need this job?
- What was your experience like at Waffle House?
Crew Member
The restaurant was new, so they held open interviews at a hotel. I went to the first interview aiming for a shift manager role, but the general manager said he'd already hired managers and only needed crew members. He did offer me more pay for my experience, which I accepted, and set up a second interview. The second interview mostly involved filling out paperwork, a quick review of the handbook, and he mentioned he'd call when training started. A week later, he called me to begin training.
- What does good customer service mean to you?
Crew Member
It was a pretty standard interview with the usual questions. They were hoping to hire someone to start right away, but I had a prior commitment for a few weeks, so it didn't work out. They mentioned I could call back for an interview after my commitment ended, but I ended up taking a job somewhere else. The people were nice, and it was a good experience overall.
