First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dialpad.
Customer Success Manager
The recruiting team communicated well, scheduling subsequent interviews promptly. The interviewers were professional, making for a generally positive experience. It was good to have a mix of people from managers to reps on the panels. The number of interviews (4-5) felt like a lot, though.
- Can you describe your past experience in customer success roles?
- What is your strategy for account prioritization and how do you manage different types of accounts?
- How do you approach balancing your workload and managing multiple accounts effectively?
Customer Success Manager
I got a recruiter call first, and it went well. Then I spoke with the hiring manager. The whole process was pretty organized and moved fast. I was a bit surprised though, the hiring manager made the role sound really disorganized. I figured a company focused on communication and playbooks would have good systems for Customer Success, but they described it as chaotic. You’d often be working with customers without knowing their goals or needs, and still expected to make progress. What was a letdown was the follow-up. Instead of a personal email from the recruiter about not moving forward, I got the same generic automated rejection message that people get before interviews. For a company that emphasizes communication, I expected a more personal touch after a few interview rounds.
- How do you currently segment your accounts, and how does Dialpad's segmentation by spend versus company size compare?
- Can you describe an area where your current company's processes are lacking and the difficulties that causes?
- Are you comfortable operating in ambiguous situations with limited information about client needs and business objectives?
Customer Success Manager
So after a screening call, there were 3 more interviews. The first was with the hiring manager, then another with the HM and a peer. The last one involved the HM, a peer, and another Manager, and there was a final project. The HM was great, super responsive, but the last interview was weird. One of the managers asked stuff the recruiter had already covered, which threw me off. This person wasn't as nice as the others. In the end, they said I didn't have enough experience, which was a bummer since I made it all the way to the end. I wish they'd told me that earlier to save everyone time.
- Why are you interested in Dialpad?
- What's your client experience like?
- Tell me about your relationship management skills.
