Had a chat with the director, pretty casual. They went over my resume and asked about my past work. I also got to ask questions about the company and the role. It felt like a behavioral interview.

I applied through the university career website and heard back about an interview about two weeks later. The interview had two parts: first, a math and brain teaser section, and second, a personal interview. For the first part, I suspect they pulled questions from a bank analyst interview prep book, covering probability and logic tests. It wasn't overly complex if you've prepped for bank analyst roles. The second part was quite uncomfortable, primarily with the CEO. He started by asking about my personal life, like my age and marital status, and then questioned if I could focus on work given my age and family aspirations. I was taken aback but managed to state firmly and politely that I prioritize work and can balance life and career. I found these questions questionable legally. Then, the CEO asked if I could handle pressure, admitting that employees often cried when he criticized them. Observing the cramped office and a colleague's downcast expression, I believed him. He also mentioned the very low salary, citing the startup nature and future potential as justifications. It seemed like he was looking for a dedicated, young, and bright individual but offering minimal compensation, making me wonder why anyone would accept. Later, speaking with colleagues, I learned most were students without other offers, and a significant portion were international students on OPT needing work authorization. Two odd things happened: The company had a previous name; when I casually mentioned researching this, the CEO became visibly alert and asked repeatedly where I got the information, despite it being a simple Google search – ironic for a supposed consulting firm strong in analysis. Also, the CEO requested confirmation via email if I was sure about accepting the offer, even before disclosing any offer details, which I found confusing.

This place is terrible. The interviewer was really rude. During the onsite, they gave paper tests to a lot of people, and I saw the guy treat a classmate who got an answer wrong by throwing pens and not answering questions. It was worse because both me and a friend got offers, but they said we wouldn't get the official offer until we started working. Weeks later, they told us they weren't giving us the offer. I felt really bad for my friend who had already decided to join this company and stopped looking elsewhere. Bad culture, they cheat applicants, and it's at least 12 hours of work daily. This place is awful.
