I was recommended for the position and had a lot of help at the start, and everything seemed to be going well. I actually interviewed twice. The first time, I didn't get the job because I was overqualified for the training position, even though it paid really well. The second time, I never heard back, so I stopped pursuing the company. I thought with a strong recommendation, I'd at least get somewhere, but neither attempt worked out.

My resume got noticed by the Mortgage Mastery Trainee class coordinator, and I was called back quickly. At first, things looked really good, maybe even too good! I was super excited about the opportunity when they explained how the program worked. I expressed a strong interest in the training department, but during the interview, the manager seemed to be trying to talk me out of it, which was a RED FLAG. Salary also seemed to be an issue. How can they offer a position without disclosing the salary? Another RED FLAG. I left the interview feeling uncertain. Exactly one week after the phone interview, I got an email saying I didn't get the position and should apply for other roles in the future. I had already applied for 4 other positions. I tried calling the coordinator back, but there was no response. Thank goodness for DHI not seeing me as a good fit.

Applied online and got a call for an interview two days later. The following week, I had an interview at a DFW location with three managers and a branch manager. They talked about the job and asked resume-based questions. Afterward, I was sent an online questionnaire with about 300 math, vocabulary, and personality questions, plus a 70-question written assessment. A week after the first interview, I had a second interview with another branch manager and a team manager. They gave more job details and answered my questions, but didn't discuss pay, incentives, or start date. At the end, they asked to check references and start the background check. About two weeks after the second interview, I got and accepted the offer. I got weekly updates, which was nice.

The interview process was conducted very professionally. It started with a 30-minute phone screen, followed by an in-person interview with both the project manager and the applications development manager. The recruiter who typically recruits for DHI handled the application and scheduling. I was informed that results would be released in two weeks, as per company policy to interview all candidates. There were no negative aspects to the process.
