Dgraph Labs Software Engineer Interview Questions
& Process

I interviewed with the new team at Dgraph for a position on their Engineering team. The interview was spread over multiple days - mostly because of my schedule. The company was very accommodating to my request. They are flexible & can morph their timelines accordingly to make it convenient to the candidate. They don't rush you or stress you out. They emphasize on providing a good candidate experience during the interviews. I had about ~5 rounds, where I met with engineers at all levels. It was good to get a full overview of their current problems, and map my skills to their needs.

The interview process started off a bit slow, but then it really picked up speed to finish. First, there was a Hackerrank test. I actually missed the initial deadline I gave for submitting it, but I let them know and sent it in a couple days late. After submitting, I didn't hear back for about 10-12 days, which made me think the feedback might have been negative. Then, I got a call to set up my interview rounds. Since I was already in my notice period, I needed things to move fast. I was impressed that they understood my urgency and sped up the process. I ended up having 4 rounds (3 technical and 1 culture fit), and then they made an offer. All of this wrapped up in under a week, making up for the initial delay. Big props to the recruitment team!

Finished the whole thing in just a week. It was 5 rounds total, including a Hackerrank test, 3 on-site interviews, and 1 online technical interview. The questions they asked were made in house and really hit the mark, reflecting what you'd actually do day-to-day. The interviewers seemed young but definitely knew their stuff. They cared more about how you approached things, your attitude, and your thought process than just pure knowledge.
