Behavioral Presentation

HR reached out to me via LinkedIn for a screening call, then I had to submit my portfolio. After that, I had an in-person interview with the CEO. It was a deep dive into my marketing experience, but I wasn't impressed with some of the answers I got. For example, when I asked what makes the company unique, the CEO just said 'Me,' which felt arrogant. He also didn't really 'sell' the company when I asked what makes it a great place to work, and the culture felt like an afterthought. The next day, I had a final chat with HR to clear up more questions. Reading Glassdoor reviews also raised some red flags about expectations and job security. I lost a lot of my initial excitement after the in-person meeting. The whole experience left me feeling like the company is struggling with its identity and direction. To top it off, I never even got a rejection email, which is pretty unprofessional.

They made sure I knew the expectations and how to be successful. They wanted me to talk through scenarios where I had done things before and know about my direct experience. I met with several members of the team separately and then together.

Behavioral Technical

Everyone was pleasant. I keep saying the tech they use is not on my resume and I told them at each step, even on the phone before face to face, that it was not my focus. I know similar techs but not the exact ones. They could have cut me before I went into the house they use as an office. I liked the people and they told me I was a good cultural fit but they picked someone who knew the tech instead of me. I felt like they wasted my time and they could have cut me before I spent 6 hours preparing and going to multiple face to face interviews. 6 hours is at least $500 at my rate and at the rate they are paid they cost their own company at least as much or more by occupying their employees' time with my candidacy.

I applied online and within days, the Deverus Talent Manager called to say my application passed the initial review and they were interested in proceeding. I had an interview with the Senior Programming Manager within two days, then a video call with the technical team, and a second video call with the CEO. After that, I completed an online skills assessment created by Deverus for the Sr. Developer role. Then, the team held a teleconference to discuss my submission. The Talent Manager then called me with an offer. It was a thorough and intense process, letting me meet people from different levels of the company and get a sense of the job and work environment. I really liked how the interviews were set up and the time they spent with me, especially since I wasn't local and couldn't visit in person.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The interview questions focused on how my skills and experience fit the company's direction and needs.
