It was a really fast process. They emphasized and asked me to describe my background. They gave a good explanation of the work scope. It's a small team, but the working phases are very quick. They offer flexible working hours, and the company covers everything. The environment is good, and I'd have good relations with co-workers.

The interview started with a general screening, which was nice because it was camera-off. Then, I had a chat with the team lead about more specific job details. After that, I spoke with another team member and the CTO (one of the co-founders) who asked about the role and also about fitting into the team and culture. Lastly, I did a paid project.

The candidate experience and interview process was amazing. I went through the first interview with DesignLab and received a not for a second interview. Unfortunately, I accepted the offer with another company. If I didn’t, I would have done the 2nd interview. The interview was great and I felt like the questions asked were appropriate in getting to know what skills/experiences I can add to the team. I’ve been through other interview with other teams, and it seemed like generic questions like what are your weaknesses? DesignLab laid out the interview process which is great so you know what to expect. Overall, I recommend applying and interviewing for DesignLab.

I applied using a simple form, no cover letter needed. First, I spoke with someone from People Ops, like an HR person. This initial chat was a quick 30-minute Zoom call about my application and if I'd fit the company culture. Then, there was a longer, 1-hour technical interview on Zoom with the dev team lead, with cameras on. It was pretty laid-back but they really dug in. The dev lead went over my past work as a developer, explained the tech stack, and asked about my skills and how I'd handle different scenarios.
