First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Design Workshop.
Intern
So the process had like 2 interviews, after a webinar thingy about the firm where we talked with PMs and principals. The interviews were like 30-45 mins and we talked about my portfolio and my career goals.
- What are your interests in this field?
Landscape Designer
The team was really welcoming and friendly. The questions weren't too difficult. Since it was during COVID, the interview was conducted over Zoom and had 2 rounds. It mainly focused on my portfolio and a general background chat.
- Could you tell me a bit about yourself and what your favorite plants are?
Landscape Designer
I had 3 interviews with Design Workshop. They met me for lunch in my city, we had a Teams/Zoom meeting with more people, and I also visited their office. The interviews were pretty standard. They asked more personal questions about my design process and specific interests. I showed my portfolio twice, once on Zoom and again in person. It was hard to coordinate with them and the process took longer than other firms.
- What draws you to Design Workshop?
- Are you more inclined towards large-scale planning or intricate design details?
Landscape Designer
The interview was in the morning. They were very nice. They asked me to present my portfolio. Then, I was asked some common questions. At the end, they answered many of my questions. It seems like a good design team where young people have many opportunities.
- Can you share an example of a time you collaborated with others on a project?
