Based on what former employees have shared, the number and format of interviews can differ depending on the specific team you're applying to. My experience involved an initial phone chat with HR, then an in-person meeting with the team members I'd collaborate with most. These in-person interviews are generally quite relaxed and casual; they don't have a set list of questions. Typically, they'll also show you around the office and introduce you to colleagues. However, the interviews can also be quite demanding. Interviewers will present you with current problems they're facing and ask you to figure out solutions, aiming to understand your problem-solving approach. I found my in-person interview to be the most challenging I've ever encountered, and I left feeling like I hadn't performed well and wouldn't get an offer.
- Can you explain how you would approach and resolve issues related to extended reality systems?
Customer Support Specialist
An HR person contacted me for a 30 min phone screen. Setting it up took forever because they weren't paying attention to my answers and sent too many emails. I think they should use a scheduling app. The screen went well, and I moved on to a "technical interview" with the department manager. I was asked common questions, but I answered them in a technical way. That also seemed to go well, and I was ready for the final interview. But then I was ghosted. I gave them times for the third interview, and I still haven't heard back. I emailed HR and left a voicemail for the manager. It's a shame because it's a good company with a good culture, but it was unprofessional to leave me hanging. I'm not surprised though, given my first interaction with HR. They need to do better.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to handle a challenging customer and how you resolved it.
Software Engineer
The interview process here was one of the best I have experienced. There was not a lot of waiting around to see if you made it to the next step. I had three different contacts with the company within about two weeks before being offered a position. Everyone was respectful and the interview questions were very closely related to the job description.
- They had a whiteboard challenge where I had to write database queries for database tables I first saw during the interview in front of a panel of interviewers.
- I was also asked several other job specific technical questions.
UI/User Experience Developer
I had a phone interview with the technical lead and supervisor. It was a really good interview and I got a clear picture of what skills are needed and the chances to learn and grow. As a front end developer, they asked me about my skills and knowledge of UI technologies, what I want to learn more about, and if I'm open to picking up new tech. I said yes, of course!
- Can you define User Experience Design?
