First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Desert Financial Credit Union.

This interview process was terrible. The recruiter was incompetent and didn't set expectations for the 8 rounds. Management seemed out of touch and uninterested. They'll waste your time with an initial HireVue interview, then be condescending and unreliable. Don't apply here. The management is a letdown with clueless leaders who can't admit mistakes. Look for better-paying companies that respond quickly and offer good compensation. Desert Financial lacks transparency. The recruiter even quit, which says a lot about recruiters who fail candidates at Desert Financial.

Program Manager
This scammy company starts with a one-way video interview. It's a terrible way to treat candidates since it's a two-way street and I don't get any chances to ask questions, but they can see me, judge me, and don't even have to watch the whole thing. Plus, who knows what they do with this data? After this, they ghosted me. I should've listened to my instincts and withdrawn immediately when I found out about a one-way video interview. This is not a way to get quality candidates. Have some respect for us!

I initially went to a job fair and spoke with a supervisor who seemed uninterested, likely due to interviewing many people before me. The questions at the job fair were very basic and felt robotic, and I didn't expect to hear back. Then, I reached out to an internal contact I knew. After they asked some general questions, they said I seemed like a good fit and submitted an employee referral. About five days later, I received a phone call to schedule a phone interview with an HR representative. Following that initial phone interview, I got another call to set up a one-on-one interview, but the location wasn't convenient for me, so I declined. They then added my name to a list of available candidates, and the next day I got a call to come in for an interview. I was offered the job two days after that.
- Can you share an instance where providing exceptional service resulted in a sale or a benefit that wouldn't have happened otherwise?
Human Resources Coordinator
The hiring process at Desert Financial isn't the best for candidates, as others have mentioned. It's a really long process for a job that doesn't pay much. To start, there's a HireVue one-way video interview, which felt really impersonal. The simple questions they asked could have just been covered in the initial phone screen. Then, for the rest of the hiring process, they wanted three separate interview rounds, all at different times. This is really inconsiderate to candidates, especially those with a full-time job, who have to find time in their busy schedules on three different occasions. It would be much better for the candidate experience if they did all the interviews in one day.
