First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deschutes Brewery.
Hostess
The interview was very easy going and relaxed. I felt very comfortable the whole time and the hiring managers made me feel welcome. We ended up going off tract a couple times because we had common interests.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Shift Brewer
The interview process was really disappointing, even though I like the company and everyone there was great. It started with an HR and manager interview, followed by a group interview, and then a third interview. They told me I'd hear back by the next Thursday, but then they disappeared. I tried calling and emailing, but got no response at all. It felt like a slap in the face and was a bit surprising.
- Are you open to working shifts?
Server/Bartender
The interview process has 2 stages: a phone call and an in-person meeting. Sometimes, during Summer, there might be a group interview to filter out candidates not suited for a busy restaurant. The questions are pretty straightforward and standard. They're assessing your personality and how you carry yourself. Key things they look for are your genuineness and how quickly you can fit into the pub's specific vibe.
- How do you handle being overwhelmed and in the weeds; what's your immediate action to regain control?
- Do you know the complete Brewing Process, from mash to bottling?
Project Manager
It was a 3-phase interview process. The final interview was pretty chill, more like a chat to see if we'd vibe. Didn't get the job in the end, but it was still a good time.
- Can you share an instance where you had to resolve conflict at work?
