First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Derris.
Influencer Marketing Director
They started with a screen, then a take-home assignment that was supposed to be done in 3 hours. It was a bit of a weird process, no feedback given, and a very specific way to submit it. Honestly, it feels a bit off to ask candidates to do unpaid work so early on.
- Could you share some examples of campaigns you've managed?
VP, Finance
The interview process was pretty standard. It started with a phone screen, then moved to virtual interviews where I met with two staff members concurrently. The final stage was an interview with senior leadership. It was all pretty typical for agency interviews.
- Could you list five of your strongest qualities as perceived by others?
Assistant Account Executive
This role's interview process was thorough, with 3 interviews and a writing assignment. I felt like I learned a lot about myself and the company, and everyone was really friendly. It was cool to meet with different senior people who shared their own experiences, making it easy to see why Derris is a great place to work and grow. The writing assignment was a good challenge, so make sure to use all the time and find a quiet spot. They asked me to talk about my writing assignment later on. Derris' hiring team was super fast with updates and emails, which I really appreciated since waiting is the hardest part of interviewing! They were really considerate of my time, making me feel valued. A nice touch was that they gave me names and LinkedIn profiles of who I'd meet beforehand, so I could picture them and prepare good questions. It really helped me choose Derris easily.
- Tell me about a past work experience that made you feel particularly proud.
- Could you talk about the writing assignment you submitted?
Account Executive
The end of my interview process lacked a human touch when they informed me they wouldn't proceed. After speaking with recruiting and having 1-on-1s with the team, I got a basic two-sentence email saying they were choosing other candidates. A good interview process should feel connected all the way through. If a candidate isn't a good fit, don't just ignore them. That was super classless!
- Do you have any existing media relationships?
