First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dermalogica.
Writer
It was a two-part interview process, and overall it was a good experience. First, I spoke with HR, and then I had a chat with the department manager. They were really clear and gave me a lot of information before the interview. It did take a while to get an update after, and I didn't get the job, but eventually, someone did let me know I wasn't selected.

E-commerce Head
It started with an external recruiter screening, then a talent acquisition executive screening, followed by a hiring manager screen. After that, there was an on-site interview with the same TA executive and hiring manager. The team was very approachable and transparent. Though I did not get the position, I want to acknowledge the team's professional communication. No generic rejection emails. I received calls after each round, with feedback.

Associate Marketing Manager
The interview process felt uncomfortable because the executive kept asking about my master's degree graduation year, which felt like they were trying to find out my age. They kept asking personal questions about my career, and I ended up having to share personal details about when my son was really sick and I was freelancing. I don't think motherhood and personal struggles should be part of a job interview. Even though I have director-level experience, they focused more on my age and seniority instead of the actual job. It felt like I was being interrogated, and I was so upset I almost cried. They straight-up told me they wanted someone much younger and less experienced, and that my age and skills were a problem. It was shocking to hear them say they preferred a junior person despite my ten years of experience. This company's hiring process seemed unethical and against fair hiring rules. It was clearly ageism, and they invaded my personal life too, which was the worst I've seen. Since they weren't focused on my professional skills and explicitly said my age and experience were bad things, I felt I had to report them to the EEOC because it was a huge violation of ethical hiring. I hope this brings attention to these discriminatory practices and helps create a more inclusive hiring environment.
- Can you tell me the year you graduated from college?
Educator
I applied for the educator job I saw locally. A few days later, I got an email expressing interest and setting up a phone interview with HR. This call, lasting about 10-15 minutes, covered why I wanted the role, my company knowledge, and my strengths/weaknesses. After the HR call, I was told I could proceed to talk with the East Coast RE. I had to prep a 30-minute presentation on a topic they provided (I chose Product Knowledge). I presented this to the RE, DM, and a school educator. The presentation was followed by a 10-15 minute sit-down interview. A week later, I heard they offered the job to someone else, but they'd keep my info on file.
