I applied online and heard back from the hiring manager about a week later to schedule a quick phone screen for the next day. It was a brief 15-minute chat to check my resume and go over the role. They said they'd reach out the following week if they wanted to move forward. The next day, I got an email from a secretary to set up an interview for the following week, and I got the schedule. The interview day ran from 8:30 to 11:15, and I was told to get there early. It was four 45-minute interviews with short breaks in between. I met with a team lead, another quality engineer, a manager from a similar department, and the hiring manager. The interviews were pretty similar, focusing on my experience, strengths, weaknesses, and asking for examples like times I disagreed with my supervisor. They gave me plenty of time for questions, so I was glad I had a list ready and could keep the conversation going. After sending thank you notes to everyone, I got a call two weeks later. Even though it was an entry-level role, they had made an offer to someone with more experience. He said I interviewed well, and it just came down to experience. Overall, I felt it went really well, even without the offer.

I kinda wish I got to see the office, but it was comfy doing it from home. Everyone was chill, which I think is the best way to interview. A week after that, the recruiter called about salary expectations. I initially didn't want to share, but she said the manager needed it, so I gave a high number thinking they'd counter. Another week passed, and the same recruiter called to say they picked someone else. I bet they chose someone with lower expectations, which felt kinda sneaky and really put me off. Makes you wonder if they just low-ball people instead of looking at skills or culture.
