I applied online, then had a quick chat over the phone. After that, I was invited to an assessment where I was interviewed by two panel members and also did a role play with three to four panel members. Once I got through that stage, the vetting and medicals took about two months, followed by a final phone interview with a senior manager before the job offer. The process is detailed on the department's website for the specific role. If you prepare well, you'll be fine.

It started with a video assessment, then an assessment centre with some behavioural and situational testing, plus some physical testing, and then a couple rounds of interviews. The role play during the assessment centre is like a real-life scenario. It was moderately difficult.

I interviewed with the Department of Justice and Community Safety yesterday. The interview involved three panelists: the Clinical Manager, the Team Leader, and an HR rep. They asked five questions initially. After that, the HR rep asked the other two panelists to leave and wanted me to stay. She then asked some admin questions about my notice period, salary expectations, if I agreed with the salary range, and if I consented to checks. She also mentioned needing two referees and asked if I was okay with that. She said they'd contact me within a week. Is this normal?

The whole process took 54 days from application close to outcome. It included 2 interviews, with the first one lasting 1.5 hours and featuring 7 questions. There was also a written case study that took about 5 hours of my personal time to complete and submit. It was interesting to learn about this government sector and some of its challenges, like difficulties and frustrations with incompatible computer systems and layers of bureaucracy. Apparently, there's still some 'overhang' despite a cultural review done in the last couple of years. DOJCS has a policy that salary starts at the base wage. I received fair feedback from the hiring manager. Some of the reviews from current employees might be worth considering.
