DENSO General Intern Interview Questions
& Process

It was a normal linear process, I got the usual questions. I had to wait a week for feedback, and after I sent an email, they told me they went with another candidate. Super unprofessional on their part.

I connected with the Denso Co-op hiring manager at the NCSU career fair, which led to an interview at Vaughn Towers in the NCSU football stadium. It was a bit chaotic with many companies interviewing there, but the interviewer was professional and seemed genuinely invested in applicant development. The questions were more challenging than expected and numerous, but they were thoughtful, even if a bit vague. I got an offer via email on September 29th, but it seemed like an administrative issue as I only received it after inquiring about my application status, and the deadline to accept was the same day. I accepted quickly due to the tight turnaround. Afterward, I was invited for a tour of the Maryville, TN location on September 17th, with Denso covering travel and accommodation. The tour was essentially a final confirmation step for co-op hires. While there, I saw the work involved, which was mostly manufacturing focused. I ended up declining the Denso offer to accept one from Altec, which offered exposure to both manufacturing and design, unlike Denso's manufacturing-only focus at the time. Denso seems like a good company with nice people, but the offer communication was unclear, and the tight deadline made it hard to consider. The interviewer's comment about potential and a factory tour implied the offer wasn't final, but the email offer suggested otherwise. This ambiguity, coupled with NCSU's policy preventing applications after accepting a job, meant I couldn't apply elsewhere until after the tour. My Altec application was a last-minute addition after the Denso tour.

The interview process for the internship at Denso was smooth and professional. It started with a short HR phone interview focusing on my background and motivation. A few days later, I had a technical interview with a project manager, where we discussed my academic experience and problem-solving approach. The final decision came within a week.
