Denodo approached me for a role. There were several reorganizations, which I understand given the CEO's schedule. I had some friendly email exchanges with the CEO. The initial screening was good. I had a 1.5-hour call with the CEO. He wanted to connect afterward, but then I was completely ghosted. I found this unprofessional because every interview is also a chance to connect with a potential future customer.

The interview process felt more like a conversation, focusing on questions about my past experiences, what I expect from this role, and my expectations from Denodo. We discussed family, personal values, the work culture at Denodo, and the skills I possess. It was a conversation around these topics.

This was a very negative interview experience. I applied through LinkedIn and also sent my resume to the Sales Operations Manager, who then forwarded it to HR. HR contacted me to schedule a phone call for 5:00 pm CST. On the day of the interview, HR emailed to reschedule for 6:00 pm CST, which I agreed to. During the 5-minute call, HR apologized for the time mix-up, not realizing I was in the Chicago area applying for a hybrid role at their Chicago office (first red flag). They asked if I applied on their website, which I confirmed, but mentioned I had received an email saying they were moving forward with other candidates. HR then stated, "the system denied your resume since you did not have deal desk experience." I explained that while I may not have had the exact title, my experience matched their requirements and I believed it would be beneficial to discuss my skills. HR repeatedly responded, "We are actually looking for someone who has worked in the tech industry," despite the job listing stating tech industry experience was preferred but not required. I pointed this out and tried to discuss my qualifications, but HR was insistent on the tech industry requirement. My preparation felt like a waste because HR was unwilling to consider my experience. Key red flags were: 1. HR's lack of awareness about the job's location. 2. The inaccuracy of the LinkedIn job posting regarding required experience. 3. HR's failure to review my resume beforehand to check qualifications. This experience makes me question how the company handles internal HR matters.
