First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dennis Uniform.
Business Analyst
First, I had a phone screening with the recruiter. Then, there was a video interview. Finally, I had an in-person interview which was a panel interview with facility management. They asked questions about my thought process on correcting poor system implementations.
- What is your thought process for fixing bad system implementations?
- Given the choice, would you rather build a new system or fix a poorly implemented one?
Sales Associate
I had one interview with the store manager. They asked me some typical behavioral questions and told me about the daily tasks for the job. It wasn't too challenging or analytical. They offered me the job right after the interview ended.
- Could you handle a fast-paced work environment?
- Are you capable of managing several responsibilities at once?
Cashier
It was one interview, and it's really important to get along with the store manager. Since it's a uniform store, dressing professionally is super important. They won't even consider people who don't take the job seriously, and your attire is a big deal. Just be yourself and be friendly. You'll be dealing with parents who pay a lot of money for their kids to go to a school that requires Dennis Uniforms, so you have to be willing to charm the customer!
- What's your approach to dealing with an angry customer?
Manager
The interview felt pretty laid-back. Different managers came in one after another. They asked some behavioral questions and mainly wanted to hear about my previous work experience. They seemed to be checking if I'd be a good cultural fit. Overall, I thought the interview experience was okay, and they handled it well. I do feel it's important to mention, though, that the company is owned by an investment firm. Based on my experience after being hired, it became very clear that their sole focus is on numbers and making a profit. They didn't seem to care about the employees and really drove home the point that we were just a number. The phrase 'shoveling work down one's throat' comes to mind far too often. Yes, I realize all businesses exist to make money, but I believe there's a limit, and it's possible to make money while still treating people like human beings. I experienced severe burnout within just a few months. This is just something I think others should be aware of when interviewing.
- Can you tell me about your previous experiences?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- It seems like this was geared towards cultural fit, can you elaborate on that?
