I applied through a recruiter and got an interview about a week later. The interview included two personality questions and a few questions about my knowledge of processes related to the job. The interviewer seemed positive and said I'd likely hear back, but two weeks later, I was told they chose an internal candidate, which felt like a waste of time for me and the recruiting agency.

The hiring manager reached out early the morning after I applied online to set up a call. I didn't hear back for a while, but then I found out that people in my network were being asked about me by the group director, which felt intrusive since I hadn't even met them. About two weeks later, talent acquisition scheduled a call. That call went well, but then the recruiter mentioned they were leaving the company. I got rejected about a month after that.

First, I talked to HR, then the hiring manager, and after that, I met with the entire team one by one. The HR and hiring manager chats were pretty standard, but meeting with the rest of the team was a different story. Some folks came across as really arrogant, and others seemed to grill me. The HR person was actually late for our chat but kept emphasizing how much the company values its employees. That really made me lose interest in the job, even though the hiring manager seemed great. One interviewer repeatedly asked why I wanted the role, and even after I gave a detailed answer, they kept pushing for more. It felt like they forgot that an interview is supposed to be a two-way conversation. I wouldn't want to work with that team.

Applied online and the process took over 2 weeks. I interviewed at Denali Therapeutics in August 2018. The hiring manager contacted me and I had a phone screen with them. This was followed by an all-day on-site interview that included a presentation. Everyone is super-friendly and brilliant. They assess your knowledge through 1:1 interviews and might ask questions about your presentation. HR is really professional. Overall - a very friendly but intense interview since they are trying to learn as much as possible about you. I was encouraged to ask questions about the team and the company.
