First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Delve Deeper.
Paid Media Specialist
I spoke with the hiring manager about the job, my experience, and background. We also talked about the company, work life, and culture. It took about two weeks to hear back from the management team after the interview.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Data Analyst Intern
Had a short 20-minute HR interview over Zoom. The person interviewing me was really friendly and explained the job well. It felt like it went well, and they even discussed my potential workspace and how I might like the area. Unfortunately, I didn't get moved to the next stage.
- Can you list some tools you regularly use?
Account Manager
A recruiter reached out about this new Account Manager role and thought I was a good fit. I was curious about the client, a large NGO, because of my background in global health. I looked at Glassdoor and their website. The CEO's responses on Glassdoor about company culture and candid feedback were interesting, but I noticed a lack of diversity and women in leadership on their website. I had one interview with the head of analytics, which was about an hour long. We discussed the role and my experience, and they asked pretty technical questions about data, analytics, and attribution. Near the end, I asked about their diversity and inclusion efforts, which was met with a defensive tone. She mentioned geographical diversity with offices in Boulder and Poland, which felt tone-deaf. I reiterated that diverse workplaces are important to me and asked how they ensure diverse voices are included when media planning for a client that serves predominantly people of color globally. Her response focused on reaching a majority-white donor audience. This answer and the defensive tone were major turnoffs and reminded me of why I left global health. Despite the job itself seeming great, the agency wasn't a cultural fit. After this interview, I told the recruiter I wasn't interested.
- Can you elaborate on your technical understanding of data, analytics, and attribution?
- Could you speak to the agency's approach to diversity, considering the current demographics of the leadership and staff?
- In media planning for this NGO, which serves a global population primarily of color, how do you ensure diverse perspectives are incorporated into the process?
Web Analyst
The interview process for a Web Analyst role typically involves a screening phase, followed by a technical assessment. Then, there are in-person or virtual interviews where they'll check your skills and see if you're a positive cultural fit. This whole thing can take a while, up to 2-3 months, to make sure you meet everyone you'll be working with.
- Tell me about your experience with GTM implementation.
- How have you handled GA and other tag implementations?
