Finance
So the process started with a quick HR screening call, which took about 30-45 mins. They mainly wanted to know about my background, career path, and if I'd be a good fit. Typical stuff like 'walk me through your background,' why I'm looking for something new, and if I'm a fit for the job. They also asked about salary and some logistics. After that, I had a hiring manager interview, also around 30-45 minutes. This one was more about my actual experience and what I know technically. We talked about how what I've done fits what the team needs, times I've led stuff, and how I handle problems in finance.
- Tell me about your background.
Manager
The interview process was quite long, especially since I was hired in 2021 during the height of COVID. It seemed like my role was a new position, and they wanted to make sure all the leadership agreed on its necessity for supporting the business. Glad it all worked out and I got the job.
- Can you tell me about your understanding of the Refining process?
Accounting Finance Manager
The interview process was super smooth. They communicated well and it all happened in just a few weeks. I applied on LinkedIn and right after, the recruiter reached out to schedule an interview. I interviewed virtually with three high-level directors. A few days later, the same recruiter called me to set up another meeting with the hiring manager. This was to answer any last questions and see how excited I was about the role after the previous interviews. They made an offer on a Friday before a holiday weekend, and I had the weekend to think about it. I accepted Monday morning. Overall, it was a really good experience.
- Can you tell me about the projects you've done in your last job and how they've gotten you ready for this role here?
Senior Director of Operations
I spoke with the recruiter on the phone for about half an hour. They determined I was qualified for the role. I knew the hiring manager and the CEO personally. I texted the CEO about my interest, which then led to the phone screen. However, the internal recruiter then ghosted me even after I sent multiple emails and LinkedIn messages. The recruiter finally got back to me three weeks after the interview, but didn't give much detail about next steps or my standing. It's been another three weeks, and it's been completely silent again.
- Would you be open to splitting your work time between Midland and Jal, NM?
