Delaware County Community College Interview Questions
& Process

It was a panel interview, with around 10 people asking in-depth questions about my previous experience. I think a screening phone interview would have been useful.

I got a call and then a phone interview, then I met the hiring manager in person, and then I interviewed with the Dean. After that, I met with HR. It was super helpful that I had my sealed college transcripts with me. I had also already done all the background checks and teaching clearances required by the state. This made things go faster because HR didn't have to wait for those. They took my fingerprints and sent them off, even though I'd already done that before applying.

I spoke with the site supervisor for my interview. My department supervisor, who is not on the main campus, didn't attend but did look over my application. He wanted more details from my transcripts, which was fair. The site supervisor is a really great manager. He seemed to have a good understanding of the school's culture, the students they work with, and the kind of employees that fit well with those students. He explained a lot about this to me, which was helpful because I was unsure if I wanted the job. He wasn't an expert in my field, so he couldn't ask me technical questions. I think he was mainly checking if I'd be a good fit given my personal circumstances, as I was a bit of a gamble since I hadn't worked professionally in many years due to being a stay-at-home mom.

The interview process was fair, friendly, objective, and professional. I had to prepare and deliver a lesson or lecture presentation on a subject I felt most confident about, specifically related to the job I applied for. They also asked some other general questions.
