First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Del Valle Independent School District.
Elementary Teacher
The secretary called to confirm they got my application and to set up the interview. Then the principal sent an email with the video call details. The interview was in August 2021 and it was a panel with the principal and two literacy coordinators. They asked me questions about my past jobs and experience, the job itself, and what would happen next if I got the job.
- How would you handle students who are behind in their learning?
- Can you explain your approach to the writing process?
- What are your strategies for fostering diversity and equity in the classroom?
Communications Coordinator
After submitting my online application, which included answering standard questions about my background, references, and undergoing a criminal background check, I received a prompt call for an interview. Prior to the actual interview, I was required to complete and submit a written assignment.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Teacher
They asked the standard questions, particularly about how I manage a classroom. It felt like the interview went well, but I never heard back. I suppose that's just how it happens. I had hoped they would let me know if they hired someone else.
- What are your strategies for managing a classroom effectively?
Educator
I applied for one position, but was hired for a different position. Something to note: What you apply for may not be what you are hired for.
- How would students or other people rate you as an educator?
- How do you find out what others think of you or your methods as an educator?
- How do you measure your abilities as an educator?
