Manager
We're looking for really good contractors and freelancers. Our "work hard play hard" vibe means we need top experts in various fields, from graphic design to senior developers. In exchange for high expectations, we offer a casual dress code, a dog-friendly office, and happy hours.
- How would you handle receiving criticism?
Account Manager
I interviewed for an account manager role in SF at TheNewsMarket, which is part of Definition 6. The interview itself was pretty laid-back and informal. The interviewer was really nice, friendly, and easy to talk to. However, the office space was a bit of a letdown. I thought there was a whole team working in SF and that I'd be joining a Definition 6 studio, but when I got there, the receptionist hadn't even heard of Definition 6. The entire office for TheNewsMarket is just one small room with no windows, located within a law or law recruiting firm. The office setup didn't match the brand image I was expecting.
- Can you tell me about any projects from your previous work where you were in charge?
- Please share some projects from your past experience where you took the lead.
Director of Technology
I normally would say that interviewing at this company was a great experience, but sadly that wasn't the case this time. After speaking with four different people from the company, including some senior leaders, I never heard back. There was no update on what the next steps were, and I didn't get any feedback. I get that filling a role can be a dynamic process, but there's really no excuse for just ghosting someone like that.
- Could you share your perspective on how to effectively manage a team?
- What do you consider to be the most effective working methods?
Program Manager
I applied through LinkedIn and the hiring manager reached out. I took time off work to interview with 5 department leads. I thought it went well and I'm qualified. I sent thank you notes. The next week, I checked in with the hiring manager for feedback. No response. It's been 3 weeks with no update, even after leaving a voicemail. It's very unprofessional and a bad way to retain good candidates.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Can you share an experience where you handled a challenging client?
