The interview process was standard. First, HR was great and reached out multiple times for an initial interview. The follow-up interview, however, was terrible. It was a Zoom call with two people, one of whom was very rude. They didn't use video, making it feel more like a phone call, which was awkward and pressured. Honestly, if they can't figure out a webcam, it doesn't sound like a good place to work. They were supposed to give an offer soon after but didn't specify when. It took them 6 weeks to inform me that I didn't get the job, which was all very strange. Overall, a very bad experience, and they seemed goofy.

I went through a phone interview that was about an hour long with IT personnel at Defi. This happened after a recruiting firm did some vetting and sent my resume to the hiring manager. The job description the recruiting firm had was mostly inaccurate, as Defi was actually looking for a network automation engineer, not primarily a network engineer with some automation skills. The interviewer became sarcastic when she realized I didn't have the cloud automation skills she wanted, like Terraform deployments on Azure, which weren't in the job description. I didn't feel welcome, and they wasted my time. The recruiting firm apologized afterward for the inaccurate information provided by Defi's IT directors and engineers.

I applied before there was a job posting online. Rhonda contacted me about a Program Manager role shortly after. Our first chat was really positive and informative. I also completed a personality assessment, which suggested I'd be suited for either the circus or running Facebook. The following week, I came in for an in-person interview. It started with two hiring managers, and a sales engineer and Agile master also joined. Finally, three PMs met with me to discuss the position. Everyone was friendly and engaging. I even met Rhonda, who mentioned she'd be out that afternoon, which was a nice surprise as she was just as welcoming face-to-face as she had been on the phone.

This second interview felt like a mix of different interview styles. I thought it would be informal like the first call, but then I shifted my mindset to a formal interview. The people seem down-to-earth and hardworking, and I think it would be a good place to work. I hope for another chance.
