You'll have a 60-minute panel interview with at least 4 people. They'll ask you typical interview questions about your past experiences, rotating who asks. Make sure your answers are clear and concise. At the end, you'll have time to ask them questions about what happens next.

It was a very thorough interview process. They described the job in great detail so there were no surprises. They also relayed the organizational challenges and the way forward. They were very transparent about current challenges and their expectations about how to manage and overcome them.

I got contacted on Indeed by a recruiter about this job. It was a two-step interview. First, I did a one-way video interview where they asked me 5 practical troubleshooting questions. After the hiring team liked my first interview, the hiring manager called me. He asked about my background and then some basic tech questions.

This interview felt like a microcosm of everything wrong with the federal hiring process. It lasted almost an hour. The interviewers were only allowed to read questions word-for-word from a script. The questions were extremely long and wordy, not well-phrased, and just remembering the whole question was a challenge. I wasn't allowed to ask for any clarification, and the interviewers didn't ask me to clarify anything I said. For all intents and purposes, the whole interview could have been done over email and nothing would have been lost. It's a perfect representation of the over-bureaucratization of the federal hiring process. It felt like an interview with a group of robots.
