I had one phone call for this role. It was a screening call that lasted about 30 minutes. I spoke with several people from different finance departments. One of them asked me questions. After the call, the recruiter let me know the results. I got an offer letter within a week, and then had a background check.

The hiring process with the federal government was really long and took a while. After applying, it took a month to get an interview, and then another month for the interview itself. After that, it was another month before I got the job offer, and then about two more months before I actually started working. The interview was with a panel of three people who were all really nice and answered my questions at the end. There were five behavioral questions that weren't too hard to answer. A tip for anyone interviewing at DFAS in Columbus, OH: get there at least 45 minutes early to get through security and into the building. I was told by the panel that I was the only one on time that day.

They started by giving me background on the internship. They will let me know about a job offer within a month.
