After a resume review that took almost 2 months, HR called candidates for a brief interview to discuss the position and ask some standard questions about past employment and qualifications. Those selected for the second round came in for a face-to-face interview. First, the HR team asked basic questions to gauge personality and previous experience in more detail. Then, at least two floor managers ('Cell Leaders') asked the same basic questions, plus some about computer experience and the ability to follow detailed build instructions. A tour of the production units ('Cells') followed. Finally, the candidate met with the production manager, who asked more questions about job history. A drug screen was required. Successful candidates then underwent a 3-4 day training period, following a computer through the production line, learning instructions and the assembly process, building a system for inspection, and watching videos on handling components and ESD safety. The final training involved being brought into their assigned 'Cell' and learning the various steps, generally from easiest to hardest.

Behavioral Case Presentation

It was a really long interview process, with lots of interviews and a lot of time passing in between. I told them upfront I didn't have exact experience, and they said they hire for fit. There were 5 separate interview sessions with 8 people total, and everyone was in more than one session. The last interview was a 'chalk talk' with short case study discussions about their toughest problems. I was surprised they had a part like that, since they said they hire more on fit. Honestly, over the 6-8 weeks, I lost interest, and it probably showed in the final interview. I wasn't too upset when, after 5 interviews, I got an impersonal email from 'HR' saying they were going with other candidates. Funny thing is, a few weeks later, the same job was posted again.

I had a really good interview process with this company. The questions they asked were super relevant to the Marketing & Events Coordinator role, and they also did a great job of explaining what it's like to work at Dedicated Computing. It felt like they were invested in finding someone who was a good fit for them, but also making sure it was the right move for me too. I always left feeling positive and really enthusiastic about the opportunity after each interview.

It was a pretty standard interview process. First, there was a phone interview, and then I went in for an in-person interview. They didn't ask any tricky or weird questions. Just make sure you can talk about your resume and your technical abilities.
