First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Deciphera Pharmaceuticals.
Associate Director
I applied online, and the process took about two weeks. I had a great initial interview with the recruiter, which led to being scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager was strictly business-oriented. There was no introduction or effort to make the conversation more engaging. Despite this, I answered more than 10 questions accurately and demonstrated that I had all the qualifications and experience required for the role. By the end of the interview, the hiring manager acknowledged my fit for the position and mentioned that the recruiter would be in touch regarding the next steps. The following week, I received a call from TA informing me that they decided to go with a different candidate who had more experience.
- Do you have experience with facility space planning?
Associate Director
The process is well established and goes smoothly. The interview panel is appropriate for verifying that a candidate's credentials meet the job requirements. Once a candidate is selected, onboarding is managed well by Human Resources and IT.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences in your area of expertise?
Principal Enterprise Architect
The interview was managed by a third-party recruiter. It ended up taking 3 weeks from the initial hiring manager chat because it was over a holiday weekend. I talked to 4 other people. The process wasn't really explained well and some documents were missing. Some weird questions came up, like why I didn't have API on my resume? I guess I was rejected because I hadn't used a tool they use, even though they knew I had used it ;-)
- What are your motivations for joining the company?
- What are your motivations for joining?
Senior Accountant
The interview focused mainly on my experience and the role itself, including the company's future and my expectations. I was encouraged to ask questions, but when I followed up with the hiring manager for feedback, they ignored me and never responded, which wasn't very professional.
