Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Debenhams.
Buyer
It was an awful experience. There was a huge amount of prep work required, and I was called back for a second interview with another project to complete. Then, they didn't send me a response at all. There was zero communication until I chased them, and they said they'd get back to me, but they didn't. Six weeks later, I chased again, and they said sorry, you were not successful, with no feedback whatsoever.
- Can you tell me about a time you developed a staff member?
Buyer
I applied for this job internally to get promoted. I filled out the application online and then spoke to my line manager before going for the interview at my store. They asked me general questions about why I'm a good fit for the role, and I gave specific answers and felt confident.
- What makes you feel ready for a promotion?
Assistant Buyer
It was a good interview experience. I had to do a SWOT analysis and also answer some standard interview questions. The whole thing took about an hour, and I got a response from the team in two days.
