First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DeAngelis Diamond Construction.
Superintendent
I put in my application via the website. A meeting was set up using the company's software. First, I had a Teams meeting with the Head of Talent Acquisition. Then, I did an in-person interview with the VP of the local BU. After that, I had another Teams meeting with the Director of Operations and VP of Field Operations. In total, there were 3 interviews over 7 weeks from when I applied to when I got the offer.
- What is your approach to managing conflict?
- What steps would you take to address a situation where the schedule is falling behind?
Project Manager
The interview process felt unfair and I wouldn't recommend it. It seemed like they had already decided who they wanted before the interviews even started, and they were just going through the motions to meet HR requirements. It might be a good company to work for, but getting hired seems like a matter of luck.
- How do you manage when things get stressful?
Superintendent
Flew me out to Naples to meet with the higher-ups. Really impressive setup they have there. Everyone in the office was super genuine and serious about their work. They didn't just talk about how great they were; they actually showed me how they operate by taking me on a test drive through their system. We discussed project locations by looking over a list of recent projects they'd won.
- What's your approach to handling a subcontractor that isn't meeting expectations?
- Do you have any specific geographical areas you prefer to work in?
- What's your earliest possible start date?
Recruiter
The interview process was amazing, super smooth, and very communicative. They answered all my questions and followed up. When I applied for a different position, the recruiter team was helpful and directed me to the right one instead of just saying no.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What relevant courses have you taken?
- Are there any books you'd recommend?
