Account Executive
The interview process was quite lengthy, taking about 2-3 months. It started with a phone call from the hiring manager, followed by a mock demo with the Hiring Manager and VP via webinar. Then there was an in-person committee interview with HR and two other Managers at their Naperville, IL office. The final step was an in-person interview with the VP. The committee interview was engaging and pleasant, with questions that were moderately difficult mixed with some fun icebreakers. I was disappointed not to get an offer because they decided to promote from within. Despite the long timeline, it was a good experience overall, and Dealer Inspire is a company worth keeping an eye on.

We started with some friendly chat, then the recruiter asked me about my past jobs. We had a good conversation, and then she told me more about the job. The interview finished with her asking me some questions about company culture. She said she'd move me to the next stage and that the hiring manager would contact me the next week. I didn't hear back for a week, so I followed up. The recruiter then told me the hiring manager had already filled the position I applied for without telling her. To make up for it, she offered to connect me with another hiring manager for a different role, but the next day, that hiring manager decided I wasn't qualified. It was pretty disappointing, especially since communication is supposed to be a big deal there.

So I had a screening with the recruiter first. Then I had an interview with 3 supervisors from the department. Because I already work in the industry, I was able to stay confident and answer all their questions about supporting car dealership websites. I felt good about the end of the interview. The recruiter then let me know that the manager above the supervisors wanted to interview me. He wanted to know why I would go back to a position if it's entry level. I told him the pay was right and I have a lot of experience supporting websites and I could always work my way back up. I really thought I nailed all interviews. This manager even told me that due to my family situation, that I would be receiving the standard 9-5 M-F shift that normally goes to tenured employees. He also stated I would be hearing back before the end of the week (it was a Monday). Then they ghost me for 2 weeks. I decided to reach out to the recruiter to see why and to let them know that I was still excited about the position and they replied with their standard "decided to hire other applicants" email. Meanwhile, the job is still posted to the company's career portal.

My interview process was super fast since I was moving to Chicago and had to give my old job a month's notice about my contract. The recruiter moved things up, and I got an interview within a week of applying. HR showed me around, but I could tell I wouldn't get the job from the vibe. I met 3 people, including the SVP/Co-founder. They were nice, and we mostly talked about my current role and design process, which was similar to theirs. They didn't ask much about strategy or tools. The chat lasted about 30-45 minutes. I followed up a week later and they said they were 'looking for something slightly different.' Honestly, I was glad to be rejected; I didn't feel like a fit for the role or the culture.
