Applied online for the Full Stack Role. First, there was an assessment based on PHP, JS, HTML, CSS code. No review was provided. Second, I had a phone interview with a resume review. They asked if I was comfortable with multiple roles, which as a full stack developer, I assume is a given. Still no review of the previous assignment, so I'm assuming it went well since I got the step 2 call. Third, I was given another assessment. They sent the assessment late, I received the answers before the time was up, the evaluator went on vacation, someone else was asked to review it, but they didn't so I had to wait until the main evaluator was back. Then boom, I was rejected because there were glitches in both assessments. Now they're giving feedback on both of them. It was a waste of my time waiting and waiting, and then no solid feedback, just glitches here and there. Other candidates did the work on time with perfection, but I'm sure other candidates didn't wait like a fool, constantly contacting them.

I was sent a lengthy code assessment with three parts. The first part involved fixing some PHP code. The second part required answering questions about PHP and providing code examples. The final part was a JavaScript assessment with six questions, asking to explain a concept with an example, and also included simple JS interactions like clicking a button to make X and Y output after a delay. Some of the code questions were quite abstract and lacked clear instructions. Additionally, a few questions needed you to use the output of previous questions to produce something else in a rather unclear manner. Despite these issues, I felt the rest of it was okay. I managed to finish and submit all the tests within the three-day limit. After a couple of weeks of no response, I followed up and was eventually rejected about a month and ten days after submitting the code assessment.

The interview process starts with a phone screen. It's not technical, but the recruiter is quite knowledgeable and will ask about specific technologies you've used and team methodologies. They really value this initial call as there are only two main interviews. They're also quite hesitant about candidates with multiple previous employers or a computer science degree, so expect questions on those if they're on your resume. The in-person interview was a relaxed discussion with two senior people. No technical questions were asked, but they expect you to come prepared with questions to show your interest. It was a long conversation, about 2 hours, mostly them asking you questions. One interviewer even mentioned they usually don't hire people with college degrees, which was a bit awkward given I have a CS degree. The final step was a take-home assignment where you can use Google. It included some basic PHP OOP questions and coding/debugging tasks. After submitting the assignment, I was ghosted by HR.

Behavioral Technical

I had a phone screening with HR and then went into the office for a second interview with several Marketing Managers. It was a pretty good experience overall, though it felt like I might have been a bit overqualified but also didn't have quite enough experience for the role at that stage in my career. I wasn't sure if they were being extra friendly or were really desperate to hire someone.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • They really wanted to know about any experience I had that applied to the auto industry.
  • I had worked in insurance before, so they asked a lot of questions specifically about that role.
