Special Education Teacher
I was a teach for America member and this partner school interviewed me. The hiring principal and I had a 30 minute zoom interview and I got a job offer at the end.
- How do you adapt teaching to help students with different learning needs?
Paraprofessional
The interview was pretty straightforward. We discussed how I'd handle teaching and manage the classroom. I also had to put together a lesson plan on a topic of my choice. I decided to teach about Roman Numerals to preschoolers.
- Could you tell us about your strategy for managing a classroom?
- How would you approach teaching and classroom management?
- Can you prepare a lesson for preschoolers about Roman Numerals?
Administrative Assistant
It was a quick and easy interview. The interviewer was fun and relatable. She asked great questions and had a great personality and tone. I didn’t feel intimidated or nervous. She was very encouraging and allowed me time to think about my responses.
- Can you tell me about some qualities that best describe you?
Special Education Teacher
I had a bit of a different interview process since I applied straight to a school. After submitting my application, resume, and cover letter to the school, I had a phone interview. Following that, I did a demo lesson at the school and then interviewed with the administrators. I've heard that if you go through the regular application, you submit an online application, then a teaching video, a phone interview, and then demo lessons and interviews with school administrators.
- Could you describe your approach to classroom management?
- Tell me about a student with whom you had difficulty forming a connection and the reasons for that.
- What are some of your most rewarding experiences as a teacher?
