Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DC Prep.
Teacher
Had a 30-minute phone interview with the recruiter. Started with a 'tell me about yourself' question, then we went over job details like hours and a quick review of the position. The last part had some scenario-based questions, questions about my views and beliefs, and how I work with others. The recruiter left time at the end for my questions and was very personable.
- What will you do to foster an equitable classroom culture?
Teacher
First I applied online, then had a phone interview. After that, I went in for an in-person demo and interview. The questions were all very generic, 'no excuses' charter school questions. During the phone interview, they asked if I was interested in coming in for an in-person demo. When I came in, I was taped during the demo, and after that, I met with the principal and recruiter to discuss how the lesson went.
- Are you a warm or strict teacher?
Teacher
I first chatted with a recruiter to learn more about the role. Then, I came in for a mock lesson. After that, I reflected on my teaching practice and answered some common interview questions.
- In retrospect, what would you change about the lesson to make it better?
