Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DB Services.
Applications Developer
The interview process started with a conversation with HR. Ben, the HR representative, was quite professional and easy to engage with. He asked general questions to understand my background and interests. Following this, there was a technical assessment focusing on typing speed and basic logic/math problems. Candidates who performed well on this assessment moved on to a second interview with an operations manager and a tech lead. This part of the interview felt a bit lacking, as if the interviewers weren't particularly invested. They quickly asked a series of technical, operational, and personal questions, seeming eager to conclude the session without much preparation. As someone who values every opportunity, it was disappointing to feel that the interviewers didn't seem to genuinely care about the process or the questions they were asking.
- Can you share a misconception about yourself?
- Could you explain what a Join table is?
- How would you reverse the string 'HelloWorld' using a programming language?
Applications Developer
It was a three step process. First, there was a phone interview with HR, and then some online assessments, and then a technical interview with a couple of team leads. The technical interview was pretty basic, but some questions didn't really fit the job I was applying for. It felt like the team leads giving the technical interview didn't want to be there and it gave me bad vibes about the company. I think they were looking for more experience than what they claimed for a junior level position.
- Can you share the title of a book that has inspired you?
Applications Developer
The interview process was really quick. I had a phone interview first. Then, I took some online tests for typing, logic, numerical, and symbolic skills. After that, there was an onsite technical interview with two of the hiring managers. I heard back with a decision within a week, and the whole thing took about three weeks.
- Would you say you're a lucky person?
- Can you explain what a join table is?
