First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Day One Agency.
Director
This whole thing happened in about 2 weeks. It was really organized and systematic, with focused conversations with everyone important. They followed up well and were transparent. It all went smoothly, felt well-connected, and was fast - honestly, a pretty good experience!
- Could you elaborate on your background and how you keep pace with current industry trends?
- Describe your experience and how you've stayed updated on relevant trends.
Creative Strategist
I went through 5 rounds of interviews, with lots of rescheduling on their side. Then they just ghosted me, no response at all. This happened even after I spent hours creating a deck and presenting it live. They could have at least sent a rejection. What a waste of my time.
- Where do you get your inspiration from?
Internal Communications Director
I had a chat with the recruiter, then the VP of HR, VP of Marketing, and finally the CEO and President. After that, I gave a presentation to all of them, plus the CCO. The hiring manager and recruiter were super helpful and I liked that I got to talk to the hiring manager a few times. All the interviews were virtual except for the one with the CEO and President, which was at their NYC office. They ended up going with someone who had agency experience and didn't give me much feedback.
- What metrics would you use to gauge the effectiveness of a communications strategy you implemented?
Designer
My interview with Day One was incredibly unprofessional. They sent me a video interview link, but used the wrong name. After I submitted it, the hiring manager just said they'd be in touch. I followed up via email with three people, including the president, for a month with no response. I finally called the hiring manager, and she said she couldn't give a timeline because they were still interviewing. That was over two months ago, and I still haven't heard back. It felt really rude, unprofessional, and unethical. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time with them.
- Can you describe your design process?
